Module description

This exciting transdisciplinary module explores historic and contemporary environmental policies and policy-making through an environmental justice lens. You will critically examine environmental policy (climate, air pollution, water management and biodiversity) at global, national and local levels. You will also deeply interrogate and find ways to redress the justice implications of these policies for societies. The module provides a thorough grounding in theories and practices of environmental justice (racial, settler-indigenous, redistributive, intergenerational, procedural and reparation) and puts them into practice. The module is assessed through a 3,000-word essay on environmental justice theories, and a creative mapping exercise that explores intersections of injustice caused by environmental policies and how they can be resolved.
