Module description
Innovation in the legal sector, driven by new technologies such as AI and blockchain, offers the benefits of increasing efficiency, productivity and reducing the costs of legal services and facilitating better access to justice for all in society. As the lawtech or legaltech ecosystem further evolves, those who study and/or seeking to practice law will increasingly need to understand the goals, processes, actors, opportunities, constraints, regulatory frameworks and broader contexts of these developments. This interdisciplinary module introduces you to the role of digital technology in legal practice, across key areas of 'legal work' such as contracting, transactions and dispute resolution, and how technology-based innovations are likely to shape the future of the legal profession.
