Module description
This module is the final part of the Master’s Degree Apprenticeship. Having successfully completed all the other requirements of the programme alongside your working role, this module prepares you for your demonstration of practice and professional discussion that forms the end point assessment. It is an opportunity to draw together the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours you have developed throughout the course and in your work role.
Module aims - intentions of the module
This module prepares you for the demonstration of practice and professional discussion that forms the end point assessment for the degree apprenticeship. Building on the knowledge, skills and behaviours you have developed during your apprenticeship, this module revisits all the intended learning outcomes that you are required to demonstrate at the end point assessment. Following an introductory overview of the process, facilitated small group work will afford you the opportunity to reflect on your newly-acquired knowledge and skills in preparation for the end point demonstration of practice and professional discussion.
On successful completion of this module at the end point assessment, you will have completed all the requirements of the apprenticeship and the Master’s degree. You will be ready to start your career as a Clinical Associate in Psychology.

On successfully completing the module you will be able to...
- 1. Be an accountable professional acting in the best interests of patients, by providing personalised psychological interventions that are evidence-based, compassionate and empowering.
- 2. Communicate effectively through creating and maintaining clinical records.
- 3. Conduct psychological assessment to identify the priorities and requirements for personalised, evidence-based psychological interventions.
- 4. Develop psychological formulations to inform the delivery of effective personalised care and to enhance the range of psychological interventions that other healthcare professionals may utilise in clinical practice.
- 5. Provide a range of psychological treatments to individuals and groups appropriate to the needs of patients in the context in which they experience distress.
- 6. Provide a range of psychological interventions when working with complex and chronic needs within scope of practice, selecting and implementing interventions where an established evidence-base is absent.
- 7. Choose appropriate psychological measurement tools for ongoing evaluation of psychological treatments that make a significant contribution to the continuous enhancement and quality improvement of clinical practice.
- 8. Provide support and guidance as part of the multidisciplinary teams.
- 9. Provide training to others in order to inform psychological interventions across a range of service settings.
- 10. Undertake research and service development activities to inform change in the area of work.
- 11. Provide psychological models of clinical supervision to the broader mental health workforce within scope of practice.
- 12. Conduct risk assessments and risk formulations.

- 13. Demonstrate clinical and research skills in supervised work with clients and systems based on a reflective scientist-practitioner model that incorporates a cycle of assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation and that draws from theory and therapy evidence bases as appropriate.
- 14. Work effectively under supervision with systems relevant to clients, including for example statutory and voluntary services, self-help and advocacy groups, user-led systems and other elements of the wider community.

Syllabus plan
Two introductory group sessions will orient you to the structure, format and purpose of the end point assessment. You will then participate in small group preparatory tutorials with course staff to prepare for your demonstration of practice and professional discussion.

Re-assessment notes
Two parts of the assessment are required for this module – Individual Professional Discussion and Demonstration of Practice, which are then considered together to determine a final grade. All parts of this assessment must be passed; failure in any of the parts will lead to failure in the module and the programme.
In all cases re-assessment will be the same as the original assessment and only failed sections are to be re-assessed. Where you have been referred/deferred for any form of assessment detailed above you will have the opportunity to retake within eight weeks from the date that feedback was provided.
If you pass re-assessments taken as a result of deferral or referral, your re-assessment will be treated as it would be if it were your first attempt at the assessment and the overall module mark will not be capped.
If you fail re-assessments taken as a result of referral (i.e. following initial failure in the assessment), you will be failed in the module and as a consequence you will be failed in the programme and your registration as a student of the University will be terminated.
