Senior People Professional (MSc) Degree Apprenticeship
The Senior People Professional Degree Apprenticeship is designed for current professional managers who want to drive improvements in your HR department. Participants in the programme will champion the people agenda, creating work environments and cultures that get your workforce delivering their best.
Your HR team will drive performance and effectiveness while learning all they need to succeed in a senior HR management role. Our experienced faculty will support them in their journey by using the very latest research evidence and experience of people management.
Apprentices develop a rounded knowledge base by studying topics including: resourcing and talent management, employee relations, performance management, reward management, HRM strategy and HR analytics. Work-relevant assessments will embed academic study, generating strong professional impact.
Successful completion of the programme will result in the award of the Level 7 Senior People Professional Degree Apprenticeship, a University of Exeter MSc in Human Resource Management and Chartered Member status with the CIPD.
Delivery is via blended learning which allows apprentices to be full-time employees of your business and gain a University of Exeter degree over two years through:
- Masterclasses delivered on our campus in Exeter, totalling 23 days over two years.
- Blended learning delivery using a combination of online platforms and masterclasses, enabling minimum disruption of work life.
- Work-relevant assessments designed to embed learning into workplace practices.
Approximately 20 per cent of the apprentice’s time will be given over to study; our model is designed to be flexible around the needs of employers and workloads. No weekly day-release is required, mitigating disruption on the apprentice’s daily role and meaning we can work with employers across the country.
Our dedicated partnerships team liaise closely with employers throughout the programme; we can assist you with recruiting, education support and administration. Each apprentice is allocated an Academic Mentor to ensure their successful completion of the programme.
Tuition fees for this two year programme are £19,000.
Employers who pay the Apprenticeship Levy will pay these fees directly through that contribution.
Business who do not pay the Levy will be able to claim 95 per cent of the cost of tuition fees from Government. If your business employs fewer than 50 people and recruit an 18-year-old or a care leaver, up to 100 per cent Government contribution may be available.

Employers must pay their Apprentices at least a salary consistent with national legislation and cover the costs of any travel and accommodation required to attend any face-to-face teaching.
