Cosmopolitan student experience
The University of Exeter offers a friendly and cosmopolitan student experience. Our three campuses provide a safe and convenient learning environment for students from over 140 different countries and staff of over 50 different nationalities. The University’s excellent reputation – we are ranked 7th out of 122 universities in the Sunday Times University Guide 2013 – and outstanding student satisfaction results are just two of the factors which motivate high quality applicants to further their studies at Exeter. Our location in the mild and beautiful South West of England, with access to both city life and beaches assures those who live here of a very high quality of life.
Academic quality and choice
The University offers a wide range of research-led academic programmes across our three campuses.
Our undergraduate programmes are suitable for students who have completed 12 or 13 years of education ie a recognised local high school qualification or the first year of an overseas university degree. Students who want to gain experience of studying in the UK but do not want a full degree, can apply for our study abroad programme. The University is unable to consider applications for final year entry to an undergraduate degree however we do consider applications for second year entry from applicants who can demonstrate they have obtained a satisfactory level of performance in their previous studies. These studies should also match our first-year modules in both content and depth. Please see our Undergraduate Study pages for more information.
Postgraduate applicants will find a wide variety of taught programmes, from Postgraduate Certificates to one year Masters programmes. These usually combine taught modules and a research project but the specialist Masters by Research allow students to focus entirely on an independent research project. The University has a vibrant research community and extensive continuing professional development programme for students seeking MPhil or PhD qualifications. Please see our Postgraduate Study pages for more information.
Our Your country pages provide more information about the equivalence of local qualifications, contact details for our local representatives who can help you submit an application, as well as details of our overseas visit schedule and profiles of some of our students.
There are also a range of scholarships and bursaries available to international students. Find out more on our international students Scholarships pages.
The INTO University of Exeter Centre, located at the heart of the University’s Streatham Campus, provides a variety of bridging programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate students who need to top up their academic and/or linguistic skills before enrolling on one of our degrees. The Centre also co-ordinates a programme of free in-sessional English language support for registered students and their spouses.
Our team of International Student Advisors are here to help you with immigration enquiries and visa extensions, pre arrival information, orientation programmes, events on and off campus, language classes, newsletters, living in the UK and much more.
