A cosmopolitan and welcoming student environment
With students from over 140 different countries, academic staff staff of 50 different nationalities, and links to several universities worldwide, the University of Exeter offers a truly international, cosmopolitan student experience, as well as a safe learning environment in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. The University’s strong reputation (it has consistently been ranked among the top 15 universities in the UK) and its outstanding student satisfaction results are just two of the factors which motivate overseas students to come to Exeter. In addition, the University's location in the South West of England offers access to some of the most beautiful cities, towns and villages in the UK, as well as to wild, rolling countryside, a rugged coastline and sandy beaches.
The University of Exeter offers a wide range of research-led academic programmes across its three campuses. Before you apply, you may want to visit the University's "Your country" pages, which offer detailed information about the equivalence of local qualifications, contact details for the University's local representatives, and the overseas travel schedules of the University's international student recruitment team.
Our undergraduate programmes are for students who have completed 12 or 13 years of education*. The University won't normally be able to consider applications for final year entry on to undergraduate degrees but may sometimes consider applications for second year entry if applicants can demonstrate a satisfactory level of performance in their previous studies. Please see our Undergraduate Study pages for details. Students who want to gain experience of studying in the UK but who don't want a full degree, can apply for our Study Abroad programme.
*(ie for students who have a recognised local high school qualification or who have completed the first year of an overseas university degree)
Postgraduate applicants will find a wide variety of taught programmes at the University of Exeter, from Postgraduate Certificates to one-year Masters programmes, which combine taught modules and a research project. For students looking only for research options, specialist Masters by Research (MRes) allow students to focus entirely on an independent research project; the University also offers extensive continuing professional development for students seeking MPhil or PhD qualifications. Please see our Postgraduate Study pages for details.
Funding and scholarships
There is a range of scholarships and bursaries available to international students. Details are on our international students Scholarships pages.
