In this subject strand, you are invited to take an exciting intellectual journey into the philosophical, theological, religious, and ethical worlds of study. In many ways, Philosophy, Theology & Religion, and Ethics are at the core of everything we think and do; they are ancient disciplines that are relevant to issues and experiences that we face today in our contemporary world. This programme will encourage you to think critically, reason effectively, be reflective, and ask questions about the mind-body-soul relationship, the meaning of life, ethical challenges and how society influences ethical beliefs, how religion shapes the world, philosophical issues and theories, the nature of knowledge, existence, science, reality, morality, justice, health, politics, social media and the digital world, and more. 

Your sessions will comprise a mix of interactive activities run by researchers across departments, with a 50/50 split between Philosophy and Theology & Religion, and opportunities to interact with current students, in addition to meeting professionals in the field that have put their degrees into practice. Along the way, you will be supported by key members of staff that will offer guidance on applying to university and will be available to discuss any practical concerns you may have. Your programme will also include an opportunity to engage with alumni from Humanities and Social Sciences backgrounds. 

Philosophy, Theology & Religion, and Ethics will inspire you to open your mind and ask questions, teaching you to think rigorously, debate and defend your views. This strand will also enhance further transferable skills such as communication, empathy and imaginative thinking, critical reasoning and problem-solving techniques. So if you are eager to tackle discussions around what really matters, on exploring diverse ways of living, or reflecting on human nature and how the world is influenced by these fields of thought, this is the course for you!
