Course content

The Exeter MBA is built around the latest thinking and techniques from a wide range of management disciplines. A solid grounding in core business disciplines is acquired through our core modules while elective specialist modules enable you to specialise in your area of interest and tailor the programme to your career needs. The programme culminates with our Exeter MBA in-company, consultancy project.

Study trips, company visits, group challenges and simulations complement lectures and seminars led by professionals and academics specialists in their field.  A range of extra-curricular activities, such as our guest speakers programme and MBA workshops delivered by our corporate partners run throughout the duration of the programme to complement your learning.

Projects

Our five diverse MBA projects provide hands-on, live, practical projects working with external businesses and organisations to solve real organisational problems. Each project provides experience of a different focus to build up practical skills and the findings of each are presented back to your client. The projects culminate in the final MBA Consultancy Project. The projects include:

  • Local Community Impact Challenge: you will work with a local third sector organisation to address a specific problem.
  • Global Sustainability Challenge: you will work to a brief provided by a global corporate organisation to address a sustainability-related international issue, as part of a mixed international group of MBA students.
  • Circular Economy Challenge: you will work on a circular economy challenge with a major corporate as part of a five-day sprint group project.
  • Boardroom Experience: learning about working with and motivating boards and their members, you will experience an executive challenge.
  • MBA Consultancy Project: this capstone 12-week project focuses on an individually selected consultancy project with a client partner organisation, bringing together your experience from all the other projects.

Guest speakers and networking opportunities

The University of Exeter Business School attracts world-class leaders to speak to MBA students, often in an informal setting ideal for networking.
