Application deadlines
Teaching starts for most programmes in late September. We do offer a number of Online study opportunities that start at different times throughout the year.
Whilst we don’t have a formal deadline for application to Postgraduate study, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as this will allow us to make a carefully considered and timely decision.
For international applicants wishing to join us in 2024/2025 the application deadline is 23:59 Friday 30 August 2024. For applicants from the UK the deadline is 23:59 Wednesday 18 September 2024.
Please note that applications to apply for programmes that start in January 2025 will close on Friday 13 December 2024 at 23:59 UK time. View a list of our programmes with a January 2025 start.
We advise international applicants to submit a complete application by mid-July and UK-based applicants by mid-August for September start, as this will allow you to accept our offer (should one be made), pay your deposit and prepare for your study at Exeter in a structured and organised manner. We may be able to accept late applications but if it is within a month of your programme start date you will need to ensure that:
- the application is fully completed;
- requests for further information are responded to immediately.
For most programmes, upon receipt of a complete application, our Postgraduate Admissions Team aim to make an offer within 20 days. Should we require further information, an applicant will be contacted requesting the documents needed.

Notification of our decision via email
We aim to make a decision within 20 working days from receipt of a complete application with all required supporting documents. The decision will be communicated to you by email.
Requesting supporting documents
Where your application is deemed to be incomplete or additional information is required we will contact you. Please note that if you do not reply by the given deadline we will determine that you no longer wish to continue with your application and we will withdraw it. Deposit payment deadline
As specified in your offer letter. Deposits are required for full-time postgraduate taught programmes and Part-Time MSc Extreme Medicine.
Accommodation application deadline
Please contact the Accommodation Office. You must hold a firmly accepted offer before you can apply for accommodation.
Recommended deadline for meeting outstanding offer conditions
We recommend that you meet any outstanding conditions by 31 August 2024 for programmes beginning September 2024 or 4 weeks before the official start date for all other programmes. However we know that this is not always possible. If you cannot meet the conditions by the start of your programme please get in touch with the Admissions Team, who will advise of your options to either defer your entry, or if permissible, facilitate an adjusted start date.
