Overview
Our collaborative relationship between the University of Exeter and the London Film School (LFS) provides students with the opportunity to complete two exciting Masters courses.
The University of Exeter and the London Film School jointly deliver the MA International Film Business. Students will benefit from the campus experience offered at the Streatham Campus, which has recently received £380 million in investment and is known as one of the most beautiful campuses in the UK. It is also home to the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum, the biggest film-related archive in the UK outside the British Film Institute. Staff and lecturers at the London Film School bring real-world experiences to their teaching, which students will greatly benefit from during their time in London at the LFS.
The London Film School is responsible for providing the educational content for the MA Documentary Filmmaking, supporting students with craft classes and contextual teaching within the documentary genre, with lectures, workshops, seminars and tutorials, as well as pitching panels, post-production screenings, and industry crits.
For over 65 years the London Film School has been the place for emerging creative talent to hone their craft, find their voice and engage directly with the vibrant UK screen industries. With a student cohort from every corner of the globe, it has always been a cultural hub where fresh voices, experiences, and perspectives rub shoulders with tradition and history. The University of Exeter is excited to work with such a long-standing, world-leading and industry-connected organisation, to nurture the imagination of our students and grow new talent in this industry.

MA Documentary Filmmaking
Fully delivered by the London Film School but validated by the University of Exeter, this exciting new two-year course offers students a diverse, rich, and challenging creative environment where you will get to work on more films than on most other courses. In the first year you will work on multiple film exercises and at least three key film projects, across a broad range of documentary modes. The MA Documentary Filmmaking celebrates creative and authored films and offers students the chance to work on conventional and experimental films. Teaching is in-depth in all aspects of filmmaking and uniquely gives students the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively. Upon successful completion of the MA Documentary Filmmaking, you will receive the final MA award degree certificate from the validating partner, the University of Exeter. In addition, you will receive a London Film School (LFS) certificate that confirms your attendance on a course at LFS.
