MA Middle East Studies

The MA in Middle East Studies consists of an in-depth study surrounding the politics and society of the Middle East with particular reference to how the region has changed and developed from the 19th century to the present.

You will develop your analytical skills with a focus on politics, history and other related disciplines in order to appreciate the different approaches to the study of the Middle East.

As well as a particular focus on the Middle East, you will develop transferable and practical skills such as written and oral communication skills, analytical skills and knowledge acquisition which will prepare you for future employment or further study.  The programme will provide you with a strong grounding in research skills which will enable you to progress to a research degree on the Middle East, history, politics or other social science specialisations.

You will benefit from in-depth research conducted by the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies as well as an extensive library collection on these subjects, enabling you to specialise in a particular area of interest for your dissertation.
